Dr. Fernyhough earned his medical degree from the University of Washington in Seattle. During medical school, Dr. Fernyhough was an International College of Surgeons Scholar at the University of Oxford School of Medicine in Oxford, England.
He served as an instructor and chief resident during his residency in the Department of Orthopedics and Rehabilitation of the Yale University School of Medicine in New Haven, Connecticut. Dr. Fernyhough continued his studies with two spinal surgery fellowships -- one at the University of Maryland in College Park, Maryland, and one under Henry LaRocca, MD, founding editor of Spine Journal.
Dr. Fernyhough is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.
