Jeffrey C. Fernyhough, M.D.
Dr. Fernyhough received his undergraduate and medical degree at the University of Washington
in Seattle where he graduated Magna Cum Laude. After being awarded an International College of Surgeons Scholarship at the University of Oxford School of Medicine, in Great Britain, Dr. Fernyhough went on to complete his internship and general surgery training at Yale University School of Medicine. He then continued on to complete his residency in orthopaedic surgery at Yale University School of Medicine. Following his residency, Dr. Fernyhough completed fellowships in spine surgery at the University of Maryland, followed by six months under Dr. LaRocca in New Orleans, Louisiana. One of the founding partners of the Florida Back Institute, Dr. Fernyhough has been in private practice since 1989.
Dr. Fernyhough is board-certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and is a Diplomate of the National Board of Medical Examiners. He is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery. Dr. Fernyhough is a member of the North American Spine Society, the International Spinal Injection Society, the International Intradiscal Therapy Society, and the Cervical Spine Research Society.
Dr.
Fernyhough specializes in both non-operative and surgical management of
spinal stenosis, as well as cervical and lumbar herniated discs. He has
regionally pioneered the use of fluoroscopic guided injections for non-operative
treatment of spinal stenosis, herniated discs, and sciatica over the past
twelve years and more recently vertebroplasty procedures. Dr. Fernyhough
has also published research in the areas of cervical spine fusions, lumbar
spine fusions, and bone-graft harvesting complications.

Nathaniel A. Lowen, M.D.
Dr.
Lowen received his undergraduate degree from University of Maryland, where
he graduated
Cum Laude. He completed his medical degree at the University of Michigan
Medical School in 1992. His surgical internship and orthopaedic residency
were completed at Washington University in St. Louis. Dr. Lowen then went
on to complete a spine surgery fellowship at the Universtiy of Pittsburgh.
Before moving to Boca Raton in 2000, Dr. Lowen was in private practice in
Philadelphia.
Dr.
Lowen is board-certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons and
is a Diplomate of the National Board of Medical Examiners. He is also a
Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery. He is a member of
the North American Spine Society, and the International Spinal Injection
Society. Dr. Lowen has also published research in the areas of cervical
corpectomy and fusion.
Dr. Lowen specializes in both non-operative and surgical management of spinal disorders. He has a particular expertise in microscopic cervical and lumbar surgery, using minimally invasive techniques. He also specializes in failed lumbar and cervical fusion, has extensive experience in the vertebroplasty procedure for spinal fractures and as a member of the International Spinal Injection Society, Dr. Lowen utilizes fluoroscopic guidance for epidural steroid injections.
